At Baba Me we offer a wide range of baby carriers and slings and have one to suit everyone. We stock both the Beco Butterfly 2 and the Beco Gemini baby carriers.

Alternatively why not book in to one of our babywearing classes, held monthly in our Baby shop in Newry, if you are local. As a rule of thumb, The Beco Gemini is better for newborns, whilst the Beco Butterfly duo is better for older children and will last longer.

All Beco baby carriers come with a 12 month warranty, and come in a funky range of colours and designs.

Designed by a babywearing parent, active sailor and rock climber, Gabby Caperon. Beco Baby carriers combines perfect ergonomics, excellent weight distribution and stylish design from top quality fabrics. Each Beco Baby carrier is handmade by a skilled seamstress in facilities which apply high social and economical standards. Sustainability and minimal impact of our production on the environment is important to Beco Baby Carriers. They strive to provide the best quality, safe products and friendly customer service. The majority of all Beco products are still being produced in California with exception of Butterfly 2 Metro Black and Espresso colors, which are being produced in USA as well as China.

The original Beco baby carrier was designed by Gabby after the birth of her son Duke in 2004. Determined to babywear, and unimpressed with the carriers on the market, Gabby tweaked and tweaked and merged mei tai designs with ergonomic back packs, until she came up with a great, comfortable baby carrier – the original Beco backpack. Since then the carrier has undergone several improvements, as Beco continually listen to customer service to improve their baby carriers. The Beco Back pack has become the Beco Butterfly 2, and Beco have also launched the fabulous best selling Beco Gemini.

Differences between Butterfly 2 and Gemini

Many people ask us the differences between the Beco Butterfly 2, or Beco Butterfly Duo and the Beco Gemini:

Butterfly 2

Separate hood (attaches with snaps) that protects even taller babies from sun, wind, rain or just gives a little privacy for a nap

Removable infant insert, which can be used for even premature babies and on up to about 15 lbs

Internal y-shaped panel that goes between baby and wearer. This creates a nice seat for baby to sit in, allows for easier back carries, transferring baby from one wearer to another (without taking baby out of the carrier) and also can be used to pre-load baby into the carrier

Weight limit of 45 lbs

Gemini

Base snaps down to allow baby to face out while in the front carry position

Headrest is attached and can be snapped down or left up

Carrier is all one piece- no extra panels or inserts

Weight limit of 35 lbs
