Ergo have done it again! They have managed to reduce the weight of their carrier once again! The result is the Ergo new generation baby carrier – the Sport. Weighing in at 1.5lbs it’s the lightest of all Ergo lightweight baby carriers and slings.

Made from 35% cotton and 65% polyester the Sport carrier has the same ergonomic features as the other Ergo carriers. The built-in vents in the Sport carrier make it even cooler to wear for both parent and child.

The Ergobaby Sport carrier was originally designed with dads in mind. But it’s not just for dads. Mums can also babywear to their hearts content using the adjustable straps which can be tightened as needed.

Like our other carriers and slings the Ergobaby Sport backpack is a soft-structured baby carrier which can be worn on the front, back and hip. It is suitable for babies from 4 months up to 4 years old. Newborns can be carried using our special Ergo infant insert.

Babywearing our Sport carrier is so, so comfortable for mum and dad. This is because baby’s weight is supported by the extra padding and in the shoulders and waist. The waistband is bigger too – an extra 5” (to 48”). Shoulder straps extend an extra 4” to cater for taller mums and dads. The high quality buckles are safe and easy to open and close.

Like the Ergobaby Organic, Original and Performance carriers, the sleeping hood can be detached. You can store in the pocket provided. But unlike the other carriers, there is no zipped pocket in front. The Ergobaby Sport is available in Black and Grey. How does the hood of the Sport model differ from the Standard model one?
Basically, both hoods have the same form and size. The straps of the Sport hood are elastic contrary to the ones of the Standard hood. Moreover, the Sport hood attaches thanks to little hooks on the shoulder straps, and not with press buttons as it does for the Standard hood. The Sport hood is completely removable and attaches to the sleeping hood storage pouch with press buttons which are located inside the pouch. The height of the Sport hood is adjustable thanks to these press buttons, so that it can be used even as your baby grows bigger.

Can it be also used by women?
It can and should be used by women too, as the straps can be tightened and adjusted for comfort.

How long can a child be carried in the Sport Carrier?
Like the standard carriers the Sport Carrier enables children to be carried from 4 months on up to 4 years. And with the ERGObaby Infant Insert, babies can be carried from birth on (3 kg).

Can accessories be used with it?
Absolutely, the Sport Carrier has all required characteristics to use the ERGObaby accessories. That means the Sport can be used with the Infant Insert, the Front Pouch, the Backpack, the Sucking Pads and the Weather Cover.

Why is there a slit at the top of the carrier?
The slit is designed to make the carrier more breathable.

Is the upper back part of the Sport Carrier detachable?
No, the upper part above the slit is not detachable. It is meant to store the sleeping hood and to support the baby’s back.

Does it have an extra pouch for storing diapers etc.?
No, it only has the little hood storage pouch and no additional bigger zip pocket to put small items. This carrier has been created to be lighter and more breathable. Therefore there is no extra pocket that would make the carrier heavier.

What material is it made of?
The shell of the Sport Carrier is made of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. Its lining is made of 100% cotton.

Is there a weight difference between the Sport and the Standard Carrier?
The Sport carrier weighs 550 g and the standard one 690 g.

Will other colours of the Sport Carrier be available soon?
No, for now it is only available in black with attractive white stitching.
