Boba 3G Baby Carrier

This is a new updated version of the original popular Boba baby carrier. The Bobo 3G carrier aims to give you an even better quality product for your precious baby.

This is a quality soft structured baby carrier (SSC) which can be used for front and back carrying. It also has a newborn hold and can carry babies from 7 to 45 lb. It’s made from 10% brushed cotton, is machine washable and is available in a range colours in beautiful patterned and plain fabric. For your utmost comfort the straps and waist strap are foam padded - especially important with the heavier baby. To save you carrying a bag - the Beco carrier has pockets in the shoulder straps to store the necessities for baby.

Another great feature of the Boba carrier is the adjustable and removable sleeping hood. This can be zipped away when you don’t need it. This baby carrier can also be used from newborn to toddler without an insert, unlike other carriers.

For more support for your precious baby’s back the Boba carrier is a few inches higher than other baby carriers. The adjustable straps and chestbelt make this a very manoeuvrable baby carrier for babies of all sizes.

The foot straps which are designed to support an older child are a unique feature of the new Boba 3 G Classic baby carrier. The straps also keep your child in the perfect frog-legged position which is recommended by the experts.

The Boba 3 G Classic baby carrier is the perfect baby carrier for you. You may be sure that this excellent premium carrier will adjust to all your baby’s changing needs as long as you need it.

Boba is a Soft Structured Carrier (SSC) that is intended for babies and children between 7-45lbs. Boba offers several innovative features not seen on other carriers:

The foot straps attached to the waist belt keep older children comfortable while enabling a healthy sitting position. The footstraps not only give tired little legs a rest, but support the legs in a flexed abducted (froglike) position which naturally tilts the pelvis, fills out the hip sockets and aligns the spine.

The new infant conversion option allows you to use the Boba Carrier 3G with babies over 7lbs. The best part is that there is absolutely no insert or accessory needed! Simply follow the instruction booklet included with your Boba Carrier to learn how to use the new Boba Carrier 3G for your newborn.

Boba has a few extra inches of height to keep your center of gravity closer to your body and support your little one’s back. The Boba Carrier 3G is approximately 2-3” higher than other soft structured carriers.

The new 3G design is made to fit parents of all shapes and sizes without purchasing an extension belt or accessory. All straps are fully adjustable, and elastic bands are provided so you can comfortably tuck the straps away once you have the carrier adjusted for you and your child.

New Born Hold Instructions

The Newborn Hold in the Boba Carrier is intended for babies 7 lbs to 15 lbs (3.5kg to 7kg). If your baby is less than 7lbs (3.5kg) we recommend using the Boba Wrap (www.bobafamily.com/wrap). If your baby is 15lbs (7kg) or more please use the Front Carry instructions.

1
Locate the two snaps on either side of the warning label. Snap them to the two corresponding snaps on the body of the carrier.

2
Take off both waist belt buckles. Turn both of them over and rethread them (this is to prevent twisted webbing when using the Newborn Hold). Test both buckles by sliding them along the webbing. (This step is only needed the first and the last time you use the newborn hold).
  3
Place waist belt (pocket side towards you) in front of you at hip level. Buckle the carrier behind your back and adjust as necessary so the waist belt rests snugly just above your hip bones.
  4
Bring both shoulder straps up and over your shoulders.
  5
Bring both hands behind your neck and fasten chest strap.

6
Adjust both shoulder straps so that you create a pouch in front of you just big enough to comfortably insert your baby. Both sides of the body of the carrier should be almost flush with your body.
  7
Take your baby with both hands and carefully slide your baby inside the carrier. Your baby must be facing you. NEVER place your baby facing forward.
  8
Your baby's legs should be in the frog position/fetal tuck and should always be touching your body (do not place your baby's feet inside snapped area).
  9
Adjust the shoulder straps so that your baby is fully supported by the carrier. Please make sure to tighten the side adjustments to prevent your baby from slumping and to provide improved back support for your baby.
  10
Adjust head support straps (located inside the pocket) as necessary. Your baby's head should be resting on your chest and facing either left or right. Your baby's nose should be, at the very least, parallel to the floor at all times. When your baby falls asleep his or her nose should be pointed higher. Please read the enclosed Babywearing Safety Manual to ensure your baby's safety.

Safety

Points to Remember

Our baby carrier is only intended to help you to carry your baby and should not be used for any other purpose. The baby carrier is also not a safety device on its own, but meant to assist you. You are responsible for the safety of your child while he or she is in the carrier.
Always inspect the carrier carefully before each use. Make sure that the fabric is in good shape and does not have any holes. With proper care, our baby carrier should last as long as a good pair of jeans.
Put your arm around your baby when you feel it is necessary for added security. Always support your baby while adjusting the fit. Don’t let go of your baby until the baby carrier is properly buckled and adjusted.
If your baby is moving around a lot in the carrier or stretching his legs out straight like a board please support him and take him out of the baby carrier.
The baby carrier is not meant to replace your car seat. Never drive or carry your baby in the baby carrier while in a moving vehicle. Please do not use it while cycling, skating, swimming, skiing or while partaking in any other sports activity.
Support your baby with your arms when leaning or bending over. Always bend at your knees.
If you are wearing your child while cooking, shopping, sweeping the floor or for any other everyday activities, please pay attention to things that your child could reach out and touch. Be aware of objects that are hot or sharp or any other things around you that could fall or pose a threat to your baby.
Be cautious when eating hot food or consuming hot beverages when your baby is in the carrier.
When loading for a back carry, your baby should always be supported by one hand.
Double check to see if any fabric has bunched up (especially when your baby is dressed in extra clothing or bulky coats) and that the fabric body of the carrier extends to at least the upper back.
Make sure to hear the waist buckle click and test to see if it is secure.
Remember to undo the foot straps before taking your baby out of the carrier.
The carrier is not intended to be used while in the water, or while biking, or any other sport activities.

After reading all of these guidelines, we kindly remind you, once again, to use common sense and your best judgment when it comes to keeping your baby safe and secure. Boba Inc. will not be responsible for accidents arising from improper use of the Boba Carrier.

The safest baby is with her alert, loving, intuitive mother- right next to her!

FAQ's

How does the Boba carrier stand up to framed backpacks?
The Boba is a soft structured carrier. There are no buttons, snaps, or poles. It is essentially made from a piece of rectangular fabric with foam shoulder straps and a foam waistbelt. Framed backpacks are bulky and although most do offer a great view for your little one, it throws the carrying individual’s center of gravity off as the weight distribution is shifted higher, more toward the upper back. The Boba carrier distributes the weight of your little one to your shoulders and waist. Most often framed backpacks don’t have much of a seat, and instead have leg holes. This means that most of your child’s weight is resting on the strip of fabric between the leg holes. The optimal leg support of the Boba, backed by the foot straps, ensures the proper seated position for the support of your little ones’ hips, pelvis and spine.

Can my baby face out in the Boba?
No, this carrier is not intended for forward facing. The Boba carrier is designed to comfortably carry babies in a physiological manner, oriented toward the carrying individual (either on the front or on the back) with baby’s legs supported in a flexed abducted (froglike) position.

Will the carrier fit both my husband and I?
The Boba carrier comes only in one size. It is designed to fit most parents between 5 and 6’3 feet tall.

Why do the foot straps make a difference?
With stretchy baby wraps the fabric can be easily adjusted and pulled to the back of the knee to provide proper leg support. With soft structured carriers the seat of the carrier usually does reach the back of your infant’s knees for full support. Yet as your child grows, as the seat is not adjustable, the legs are supported less and less and the fabric no longer reaches the back side of your growing toddler’s knees. The added foot straps feature alleviates the uncomfortable feeling of fabric digging into the back of your toddler’s hamstrings. It gives tired legs a place to rest and at the same time acts to support the legs in the physiological flexed abducted position (froglike position) which in turn naturally tilts the pelvis and aligns the spine.

Why does your carrier come up so high in the back?
We originally designed the carrier with added height because it is intended to support your baby through toddler-hood. As your child gets older, the extra fabric provides proper back support to the toddler and brings them closer to the carrying individual and his/her center of gravity. In shorter bodied soft structured carriers it is more difficult to bring your child’s upper body close to you. Your only option is to crank the shoulder straps which may make the carrier tighter overall and dig into the middle of your little one’s back but not solve the problem and leave you with sore shoulders. With the Boba, parents should be able to stand naturally and never feel like they have to bend forward to compensate for the “leaning back” feeling of their toddler. The rounded top makes the adjustment more enveloping than the low square back which essentially pulls only your child’s lower body closer. The closer your little one is to your center of gravity, the easier to carry your child.

Can I nurse my baby in the Boba carrier?
Yes, you can nurse your baby in the Boba. Adjust the shoulder straps to lower your little one so that he can latch on. Lifting your breast helps. The extra height and width of the carrier helps make nursing more discreet.

Is the Boba washable?
Yes. We recommend that you spot clean regularly. Machine wash on cold cycle with a mild detergent only when necessary. Air Dry.

How do I use the boba carrier hood?
