I bought a couple of Econobums as a cost saver to use along side our Flips. All the reviews I had read said that they were just as good as Flips, just no frills. I must admit that I have been disappointed. We don't get a great fit with the wraps, which I haven't been able to understand as I thought they were essentially the same as the Flip wrap, but also the inserts themselves are not a patch on the Flip Organic inserts. Even using a fleece liner, my little boy screams with discomfort where his bum is wet within half an hour of putting an Econobum on him, something which has never happened with the Flip prefold, where we can easily get 4 hours out of it. All in all, I think you get what you pay for.

Very absorbent and great value
Very absorbent and great value. They are not quite as soft as some of my other prefolds but used with a fleece liner his shouldn't be an issue. Really pleased and will be buying more to bulk out my stash

These are SO absorbent. Just as good as the Flip organic cotton, in my opinion. I use them stuffed in a pocket nappy at nighttime.

Though I prefer pockets and All in Ones, I do use econobum prefolds sometimes, can't use them during the week as nursery need pockets / AIOs. Pretty simple to use: just need to fold and place in the cover and very absorbant. Econobums are very economical as you only need a few wraps and a pile of prefolds to cloth bum your baby. There is no stay dry layer with these prefolds so you would need to put a fleece liner on top to keep baby's bum dry. I still love AIOs and pockets but I think for people looking for a better value BTP system Econobums are definitely a great option for using cloth. You could cloth a baby full time with them for under 100 pounds I reckon, so a great basic money saving nappy,

A reliable prefold which lasts us all night. Easy to use, although was very bulky on our son til he was about 5 months old, but is now essential at night. Use a fleece liner to make this dry to baby's skin.

We use these along side Flips so use the prefold with both types of cover. On top of the prefold we use fleece liners which then keep baby feeling dry. Whilst we wouldn't use these over night we have had 3 hours + when using them. It probably could do longer just we generally change after 3 hours. I like having the prefolds as we prefer to use these if we have nappy rash and are using creams as we find the liner covers more of the prefold and they are easier to shove in a hot wash. As well as using these with the nappies we often use them for freetime on the mat so if the little man pees while getting some air the prefold soaks it up.

I prefer pockets, but these are much quicker and easier to use. I do use an additional soaker, a fleece liner and a paper liner. From this I can get 4 hours use from one nappy with no sign of nappy rash insight. I don't like the wraps they are too flimsy so use flips. I also use these and flip prefolds to stuff pockets again using an additional soaker. They are great as a cheap efficient addition to the collection.

Having previously reviewed this item, I stand by my less than rapturous view on the Econobum system as a whole in comparison to the far superior, although more expensive Flips. However I have discovered, and think it only fair to share, that these prefolds are FANTASTIC stuffed into pocket nappies. It's the first time I've been able to use them in nappies for long enough on my little man to properly gauge the absorbancy and I must admit they are pretty good. I have got a good 3/4 hours out of them with one layer still relatively dry. I am so glad I've found a use for them after all :)
