bumGenius 4.0 One-Size Cloth Nappy

The popular bumgenius onesize nappy was updated in June 2010 to make it even more perfect! The new features on the real nappy include a choice of popper or hook and loop closure. Much more generous fittings so even very large toddlers can fit into these nappies. The hook and loop nappies can still close down to x small form 7lbs. The popper closures can fit from 9lbs.

The bumgenius onesize v.4 still have the fantastic features from v.3 including the unique popper system which allows this nappy to go as small as 7lbs and grow to 35lbs+. They all still come with the unique butterfly closure tabs which provide custom fitting to ensure these nappies fit your baby. Because they fit so well, these nappies are legendary for their containment and reliability.

Each bumgenius v.4 comes with an extra large slot opening to stuff your inserts into. This slot is covered over to protect your baby from wicking and getting wet. The extra large slot makes it super easy to stuff your nappies, and also allows the inserts to come out in the washing machine, so no pulling out dirty inserts!

These pocket nappies also have a waterproof insert stopper which stops any problems caused by over stuffing and stuffing in the inserts too far. This stopper stops any leaking at the tummy area. Each nappy comes complete with two inserts. A small, lightweight insert for newborns, called a diaper doubler and a larger one-size insert for your growing baby, called a onesize insert.

The soft, waterproof outer fabric keeps the nappy trim on your newborn and toddler. Soft, sueded inner fabric gently wicks moisture away from your baby's skin. Super stretchy, gentle leg and back elastic with rolled out casings keeps the yuk in and help to keep red marks away. Our unique covered slot opening keeps your baby protected from moisture.

BumGenius onesize nappies have won numerous Gold awards for best reusable nappy, including Mother & Baby Gold, Practical Parenting and Practical Preschool.

My husbands fav go to nappy and never fails us. Have also used as a night nappy as the pocket is big and boosters can be added. I do prefer the snaps closure as the Velcro begins to curl and look tatty after a few washes, still sticky though. (Posted on 02/01/2014)

Bought it to try as it seems one of the most popular nappies/brands around. Wasn't impressed at all. The fit is nice, but the inserts are not absorbant enough and need additional bamboo or hemp. The newborn insert is paper-thin and no use at all. Stretchy wings for poppered version are not very qualitative, they were bobbled within few washes. Not a good value for money. (Posted on 09/09/2013)

These make up the bulk of my collection and love how you can dry the inserts in the tumble drier and the covers dry qucikly on the airer. Grandparents find them really easy to use as well. My only critisms is that when my son (now 11 mnths) is between popper sizes we do get leaks, adding more inserts (than the two provided) seems to solve this. However the maximum they last us during the day is 3 hours. (Posted on 05/02/2013)

I think every nappy stash should have at least one v4. It's easy to use making it dad-proof and nursery-proof. The pocket inside is really generous so there's plenty of room for boosting if you have a heavy wetter or for overnight. As far as pocket nappies go compared to other pockets I have it's slim fitting, although personally I find Flips slimmer for my son under trousers. I've found the v4 to be hard wearing and long lasting, I have the popper version and it still looks new after being used loads. (Posted on 09/10/2012)

I have purchased many different brands and even types of Bumgenius nappies and this is by far my favourite and the staple in our stash of nappies.

They dry quickly, fit well, contain almost all poo's and look great! We owned a full stash of the v3's and now I am replacing them with the V4 as I love the new colours and the fact you can replace the elastic (so can recycle them for another little one!). Definitely recommend these nappies!!! (Posted on 10/08/2012)

A nice nappy all in all. I like the inside "stay dry" fabric - doesn't bobble. Inserts dry relatively quickly. The only problem I have is the elastics dig a little bit on my baby's thighs. I think they're a bit tight comparing to my other pocket nappies. I would still recommend it though. 4 out of 5 from me. (Posted on 08/04/2012)

Ok, have found a nappy which everyone loves. I like the pocket nappy element as I can tuck the inserts away nicely and appeals to my OCD side of my nature about neat finishes!
Would say if a heavy wetter, may not be enough for nighttime although we JUST cope with adding a hemp booster in with 2 full size inserts as well. Baby has a Huge bottom if you do this, but it works for us,
Daytime is no bother, just stuff and go (I pre stuff all the nappies during nappy off play time, so a pleasant easy job and nappies are ready to go the next day) (Posted on 07/03/2012)

We like this diaper from about 12 months on. When our son was still a baby, I felt the space between the legs was simply too wide for an active baby. Maybe it would fit better on a less active or larger baby. We've used this diaper daily since about 12 months. It's a solid reliable diaper. I've heard the hook and loop can get worn but we flip the back flap over the tabs to protect them even more during washing.
While the size seemed large at young ages, we are pleased it has so much growing room now at 20 months. (Posted on 05/03/2012)

Such a shame that bg velcros are not the best. They of course do the job but even when new it already looks tatty. For that reason, I prefer poppers when it comes to bg so that I can maintain the new nappy look for longer. Other leading brand nappies, I swear by velcros, sooo easy. Also the foldback laundry tab for bg velcro is hidden underneath lo so have to roll her on her side a bit to fix the tab during change. This helps give her the much needed platform to keep rolling away from the dirty nappy. Sigh.
But on the bright side, no leaks yet! (Posted on 08/01/2012)

Only have one of these V4s but I was testing it yesterday on my pretty heavy wetter 1-year-old son. I used the standard 2 inserts and it was on for over 5, yes five, hours without a leak.

My first set of snap together nappies lasted 2 hours, 3 on a good day and leaked so much so I am delighted about these and pleased I switched brands.

I have some freetimes and elementals too and these are slightly more fiddly to stuff (esp if wearing rings or a watch!) but worth it for 5 hours! That's more than some disposables I've used! (Posted on 02/12/00-1)

I switched to cloth when my toddler was 18 months and these work great. He is a super soaker so I added a bamboo booster and since then we have had no accidents - he even uses them at daycare and they love them and have had no problems. I am also using them for my newborn (well, she's 2 months old now) and although they look HUGE on her and some of her cute clothes cannot fit over them, I have never had any issues with leakage. Again though, she is a super soaker so I use two of the small inserts or one small insert and a bamboo booster to get the right absorbency. I would definitely recommend this nappy. The best cloth nappy yet!

I have around 20 types of cloth nappy in my stash and this is the one that I reach for first.

It is a great fit on my 4 month old and very absorbent, we have never had a leak. It is very easy to use, and easy to stuff. The pocket is big enough to add extra boosters for nap time. It dries overnight on the airer, and they still look as good as the day we bought them!

I honestly do not have a bad world to say about these nappies. Their colour/print range was a little lacking compared to some other brands, but they have recently brought out some cute prints and lovely new colours!

I did have 7 of these nappies, but now have another 6 on order. Perfect nappy for nursery! (Posted on 02/12/00-1)

Bumgenius nappies are our favourite by far - we've tried most brands and these work really well on our daughter so we pretty much only use these. They are very absorbent - at 18 mths we use the large insert along with a bamboo insert and get roughly 4 hrs per nappy. They dry very quickly which is great as we dont have any outside space or a tumble dryer. (Posted on 02/12/00-1)

Before I started to use cloth I thought two parters were the practical option and all-in-ones were the one to persuade my husband about how easy cloth is to use. Now? Well, I discovered the Bumgenius v4 pocket nappy!

No need to faff about with extra fleece inserts, just stuff the nappies the night before and these become the easiest nappies to use. They also look so good! Because you can boost them according to your baby's needs they are also very easily adapted and I can't praise them enough. I've now retired most other nappy systems in favour of these! We love our V4s, so easy to use and we can easily get 4 hrs from them, although our little girl is a pretty light wetter during the day.
They dry super fast on the line inside or out and even though we have mostly velcro ones they still look great, I know alot of people have issues with the velcro looking tired quickly but ours have stayed fine.
Wish BG would do more cute prints, we have Lovelace and love it but the rest are just plain colours. But for fit and ease of use these are a winner everytime :) (Posted on 02/12/00-1)

So easy to use, my hubby will change these! When im out I have to leave a couple of these as he finds these daddy friendly! I've even boosted with an extra bamboo and they've lasted overnight for us so we use these and only one other brand now for our little one and no more leaks!!! (Posted on 02/12/00-1)

These are a great pocket nappy with fairly good absorbency, although the do need boosting for older babies or heavy wetters. (Posted on 02/12/00-1)

Not a fantastic waist fit, soon as we got my son has been on a fit of three poppers showing in the waist which is awkward as it makes the nappy lopsided.. hoping this will sort itself as he grows though, he IS a pretty skinny 1 year old :)

The absorbancy and containment I cannot fault though, even lopsided I decided to leave on until it leaked rather than prewash (I was too excited to put my first printed on him!) And in the end I took it off after 4.5 hours but still no leaks and still looked as though it could hold a lot more! Very impressed! Easily matched my favourite nappies for absorbancy, I just wish the price was a bit more realistic :( (Posted on 02/12/00-1)

I love the Bum genius v4 and this is a really lovely pattern. The Bum Genius is really easy to use and they are not too bulky for a BTP nappy (Posted on 02/12/00-1)

One of my favourite nappies I have. Brilliant fit on my chunky 4 month old. Pocket nappy. At the moment I dont need to add any extra boosting but theres plenty of room to do so. Would highly recommend this nappy. Oh and the gorgeous prints are a big plus too :) (Posted on 02/12/00-1)

Lovely prints, great fit especially on slim legs, nappy and inserts dry quickly (usually overnight). We usually get 3 hours out of them without any leaks and stuffing them only takes a minute. Overall our favorite nappy at the moment. :-) (Posted on 02/12/00-1)
