How Do You Wash Reusable Sandwich Bags?
If you want to do your bit for the planet one of the things you may be doing is replacing single-use items in your daily life including buying reusable sandwich bags for lunch boxes as well as other items such as drinks bottles, travel cups, reusable straws and bags for life.
Once you have the reusable alternatives you need to know how to use them to make them worthwhile and part of that is how you wash them and keep them clean and in great condition.
There are lots of different options available when it comes to reusable sandwich bags including silicone, fabric, plastic and wax options and they can all be cleaned in different ways. Some you can put in the dishwasher at the end of the day, some you can pop in the washing machine and others need to be hand-washed.
Cleaning Keep Leaf Sandwich Baggies
Keep Leaf Sandwich bags have a cotton outer layer and a waterproof liner that is toxin, Lead, Phthalate and BPA free.
These baggies have a velcro closing so they are easy to use and they are the perfect size for either snacks or sandwiches and perfect for days out and lunch boxes. But one of the best things about them is that they are so easy to clean and take care off.
Unless they are dirty on the outside the easiest way to clean them between uses is just to turn them inside out and give them a wipe with a damp cloth. If you make lunch boxes every day or take out snacks on a daily basis this is the easiest thing to do.
However if you feel they need a bit more of a clean these sandwich bags are dishwasher safe and machine washable. So you can chuck them in the dishwasher on the top rack with your plates and cutlery so long as you run a cool cycle or pop them in the washing machine again not on a hot wash and lie them flat to dry
Cleaning Wax Wraps
Wax wraps are another alternative to cling film and single-use sandwiches that you might choose to use. These need to be gently hand washed with water that isn’t too warm and a gentle soap to keep them in good condition as the natural wax and oils can be washed off the fabric if they get too hot.
If you put one of these in the washing machine you would just end up with a bit of fabric which would be fairly unhelpful for covering bowls or wrapping sandwiches.
Cleaning Silicone Sandwich Bags
Silicone is a very durable material that can withstand both very high and very low temperatures and is non-toxic making it perfect for food use.
These sandwich bags can be either hand washed or put in the dishwasher and they don’t mind going in on a hot wash which makes them very easy to clean and look after.
