How to Choose the Right Wooden Tea Set for You
Choosing the right wooden tea set for your kid complete with tray, cake and tea bags
So you’ve decided to buy your little one a tea set, but there are so many to choose from that you don’t know where to begin. We have a fantastic range of tea sets and other play food accessories that make brilliant role-play toys for little ones but we realise that can make choosing the perfect one a bit of a challenge. But don’t worry, we are here to help.
First of all, have a browse.
The first thing we recommend you do is to have a browse. It might be that you fall in love with the Plan Toys tea set, complete with little wooden tea bags and even sugar cubes. Or you might know your little one will go potty for the Indigo Jamm hearts set complete with a matching tray and jammy dodgers.
Next think about your must-have items.
If none of the sets immediately jump out at you, or more likely several of them do, the next thing to think about is your must-have items.
What is it about having a tea set that will make your little one fall in love with it?
- Do they prefer cakes or biscuits?
- Do you want it to have a matching tray or do you already have something that could be used as a tray at home?
- Would a little basket they can carry everything around in make it even more special, and will it make it easier to keep tidy when they’re not playing?
- Would you rather a set that wasn’t pink?
- Do you actually only ever drink coffee and so are they more likely to love playing with a coffee machine than a tea set.
Some of the sets are also made with metal or the Green Toys set is made of recycled plastic making it perfect for outdoor play, think sandpits and mud kitchens as well as teddy bears picnic, and it can be used in the bath.
In fact while the Green Toys set isn’t one of the prettiest it’s still extremely popular because you can actually fill it with water (or any other weird and wonderful concoction your child can come up with) without doing any damage. Making it a great toy for practising pouring as well as a role-play toy.
Also don’t forget that you can buy little wooden tea bags, barrels of boxes of biscuits, kettles, cake stands, cuttable cakes and cupcakes all separately, so if you are really drawn to the picnic basket in the Big Jigs set or the practicality of the Green Toys set you can simply add a yummy chocolate cake or a set of build your own cupcakes.
Finally think about your budget.
If money is no object we have put together some amazing bundles that will delight any recipient and ensure you have a fully stocked home cafe that any little chef would be proud of.
If your budget is tight though think about the elements that they will most enjoy. And have a think about what you might already have. If you’ve already got a kettle and some cups then a little box of wooden tea bags and a barrel of biscuits could be all you need. Or you might have a set of old teacups you never use or find some in a charity shop, and so a cake stand full of yummy treats might be a better way to spend your budget.
And if you still can’t decide there’s always eeny, meeny, miney, moe.
