How to Clean Ice Cream Cart Toys

how to clean ice cream toy carts

Ice cream cart toys are fantastic toys for children. Children love ice cream and they will enjoy serving their friends with a scoopful of these frozen delights. Keep in mind that these playsets will eventually become dirty. Many parents dread the thought of cleaning toys because they simply do not have enough time to do it. So here’s our simple guide on how to clean your children’s ice cream cart toys.

Care Instructions

Reading your manufacturer’s care instructions should be the first thing you have to do before cleaning your ice cream cart toys. Reputable toymakers always include instructions on how to care for and clean their toys to ensure that they last. The care instructions could either be written on the manual or on the packaging. If you have thrown the packaging already and your ice cream cart toy did not come with a manual, simply visit the toy’s manufacturer’s website for the information that you need. If for some reason you cannot find the information you are looking for, you can contact their support team instead.

Disassemble

So depending on the size of the ice cream cart toy you bought, you might need to disassemble it before cleaning. The instructions should be included on the packaging of your playset. Disassembling your playset before cleaning them could make the entire cleaning p[rocess easy for you and you would be sure that everything is clean.

Remove Dirt and Grime

Before starting the cleaning process, make sure to remove all obvious dirt and grime from your ice cream cart toy. Use a soft sponge or unused toothbrush to scrub off all dirt and grime. If you are cleaning plastic (non battery operated) toy pieces, you can dump them into a bucket of water or cleaning solution to soften all dirt that might have hardened. However, if you are cleaning wooden toy pieces, never soak or submerge them in water or any cleaning solution. Doing so will cause your wooden toy pieces to swell and they will be deformed afterwards. Wood is porous so it will absorb water and moisture.

Dishwasher

Now if you bought an ice cream cart toy made from plastic or recycled plastic tnad it is not battery operated then most likely you can use your dishwasher to clean your playset. Your preferred detergent or multipurpose cleaner and dishwasher will do all the cleaning for you.

Cleaning Wooden Ice Cream Cart Toys

If you care about the environment and want to reduce plastic waste, you probably bought a wooden ice cream cart toy instead of its plastic counterpart. Cleaning it might not be as easy as say using a dishwasher but it is still easy nonetheless.

As we previously mentioned, wood is porous so you should never submerge or soak your wooden ice cream cart toy pieces in water or any type of liquid cleaning solution. Instead, you should prepare your preferred cleaning solution in a spray bottle and use a damp cloth to wipe and clean your playset. Spray each toy piece with the cleaning solution you prepared but not too much because you would end up drenching your toys. Make sure to wipe clean all surfaces and remove any excess cleaning solution from the toy pieces so as not to leave any residue.

Drying

You can air dry your playset overnight or sun dry during the day. If you decide to sun dry, make sure not to leave your playset out in the sun for too long because the heat of the can cause damage to your playset’s paint.
