How to Clean Your Doll Bed
Wooden doll beds are more than just toys. They are works of art and a finely made wooden doll bed displays intricate designs and beautiful craftsmanship. Children love tucking their baby dolls in them and parents take pride in their precious doll beds. Some doll beds are so beautifully designed that they can double as a nursery decoration.
One of the important household duties you need to do as a parent is to keep your children’s toys clean and well-maintained especially if they cost a lot of money. If your children are always playing with their doll beds, chances are they are already covered with dirt and grime. Even if your children do not play with them, they will be covered with dust and will look dirty.
Cleaning your doll beds regularly will make them last longer and they will always look brand new. Let’s take a look at a few things to keep in mind when cleaning and maintaining your doll beds.
The first thing you need to do is remove everything from the doll bed. By everything we mean the pillows, blanket, duvet and bed sheet. If your doll bed accessories are made from fabric, most likely you can toss them straight into your dishwasher. Wash them per the instructions of the toy manufacturer.
Depending on the size of your doll bed, you can either clean them like you would a real bed or disassemble them into pieces. Plastic doll beds are probably easier to clean than wooden ones. You can wash them in your dishwasher and if they are not small enough to fit in your dishwasher, you probably need to disassemble them first.
If you are cleaning a wooden doll bed, then the steps are different but the entire process is still simple and easy.
Prepare your cleaning solution. Use mild soap as much as possible. Natural soaps like Castille are entirely optional but highly recommended. If you are disinfecting after an illness, then you may want to use either mild bleach or vinegar. Make sure you read the care instructions of the doll bed before deciding on what cleaning solution to use. Vinegar is a common household item known for its natural antibacterial properties. Use baking soda or sodium bicarbonate, another common household item, if you are trying to remove tough stains. Dilute your cleaning agents in a separate container then transfer it to your spray bottle for easy cleaning.
Spray your doll bed with your cleaning agent and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Make sure to wipe every nook and cranny for a thorough cleaning. If you are using vinegar or bleach, remove any excess cleaning solution to avoid any residue from drying up and get rid of the smell.
You can air dry your doll bed overnight or leave it to dry under the heat of the sun for a short time. Remember that prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause the paint on your doll bed to start peeling.
