Bar Soap vs Liquid Soap: Why Bar Soap is BETTER!

bar soap vs liquid soapIt's a debate that has been around for years - bar soap vs liquid soap. Which one is better? Well, we're here to tell you that bar soap is the clear winner! Here are just a few of the reasons why:

- Bar soap is more environmentally friendly than liquid soap and you will have a much lower carbon footprint and plastic waste when using it.

- Liquid soap often contains harsh chemicals that can dry out your skin.

- Bar soap is generally less expensive than liquid soap.

So there you have it! Three compelling reasons to switch to bar soap. Will you make the switch? We think you should! ;-) But lets delve deeper into each of these!

Bar soap is more environmentally friendly than liquid soap.

This is because liquid soap often contains synthetic ingredients which can pollute the environment. Bar soap for hands, on the other hand, is made from natural ingredients and doesn't contain any harmful chemicals.

But most importantly, bar soap comes with no or biodegradable packaging, whilst liquid soap comes in single use plastic bottles. And we all know how bad plastic is for the environment!

One of the easiest ways to go green in the bathroom and reduce plastic use is by switching our liquid soap to natural soap bars.

Most liquid soaps contain sodium lauryl sulfate or SLS, which is a foaming agent that can strip the natural oils from your skin, leaving it feeling dry and irritated. SLS is also a known eye irritant.

Bar soap, on the other hand, is much gentler on your skin. In fact, many bar soaps contain natural moisturizers like glycerin that can actually help to improve your skin health! Soap is made from animal or vegetable fats (most of our soaps are vegan soaps). The vegetable and animal oils cause the cleansing action.

So there you have it, two good reasons to ditch the liquid soap in favor of bar soap. But wait, there's more!

Bar soap is generally less expensive than liquid soap.

One of the main reasons for this is that bar soap lasts a lot longer than liquid soap. You can get 200+ uses out of a single bar of soap, but you'll be lucky to get more than a week out of a bottle of liquid soap. So not only is bar soap better for your skin and the environment, it's also better for your wallet!

Rubbing bar soap on your hands has a better way of dislodging and removing dirt compared to when you use liquid hand soap. When you use liquid soap, you use a lot more and a bottle does not last nearly as long as a bar of natural soap.

Can you use bar soap to wash your hands?

Yes! In fact, bar soap is just as effective at cleaning your hands as liquid soap. The only difference is that you need to rub your hands together for a bit longer to create a lather. But other than that, there's no difference! The act of rubbing your hands together creates friction which in turn actually cleans better! The fatty acid from the soaps are perfect for hand washing, the friction created removes the skin cells and leaves the hands clean, so perfect for hand hygiene.

We all know how important it is to keep our hands clean, but what is the best way to do it?

There are many different types of soap on the market today. You can find liquid soap, bar soap, powder soap, and even  organic soaps. With so many choices, it can be hard to decide which one to use.

So, what is the best soap to use? The answer may surprise you…soap is better than liquid soap! Here’s why:

Most bar soaps are made with natural ingredients, whereas liquid hand soaps often contain harsh chemicals. This can be bad for your skin, as it can strip away natural oils and cause irritation.

Liquid hand soaps come in plastic bottles, which are not biodegradable. This means that they will sit in landfills for years, or even centuries! Bar soaps, on the other hand, are much more eco-friendly as they are usually packaged in paper or cardboard, which can be recycled.

Liquid hand soaps can be quite expensive, especially if you buy them from a luxury brand. Bar soaps, on the other hand, are much more affordable and can last just as long as a bottle of liquid soap. Liquid soaps typically cost about x4 compared to the usage for soap bars.

So, there you have it! Bar soap is better than liquid soap, for both your skin and the environment. Next time you’re at the store, be sure to pick up a bar of soap instead of a bottle of hand wash. Your skin (and wallet) will thank you!

This is a question that we get asked a lot and the answer is yes, bacteria cannot live on bar soap, however not enough to make you sick. The reason why is because soap is made of fats and oils which are antimicrobial. Soap also contains glycerin which is a humectant (meaning it attracts moisture). However all research done indicated that soap doe not transmit disease. Studies continue to show that soap will combat an infection rather than be the source of it!

So whilst studies have found that abundant bacterial species found on soaps bars after washing, it does not transmit and using soap will actually decrease microbial transmission. Whils the soap bars do have significantly more microbiome diversity compared to liquid, and these could be disease causing microbes on the contaminated surface of the soap bar, the research has shown this microbial life does not transmit to the next user. Whilst antibacterial soap may kill them off completely, its not needed in most cases.

Is it safe to share a bar of soap??

Yes, unless you have some serious underlying health conditions. As stated above, all the research indicates that disease is not transmitted by soap. In fact, sharing soap can actually help to prevent the spread of disease! So go on share bar soap today, they are perfect for handwashing1
