Based in rural South Devon the company started life scribbled on the cover of a paperback on a travelling adventure. They work with artisans, independent businesses and cooperatives, building strong personal relationships to bring you handmade contemporary design using traditional skills and sustainable or reclaimed materials.
Following the principles of fair trade, nkuku work with suppliers from the very start of their fair trade journey. Investing in their success and supporting the process of accreditation. Many of their suppliers are now Fairtrade certified and all are worked with closely to ensure ethical and sustainability standards are upheld at throughout the supply chain.
Their collections are shaped by the desire to work with eco-friendly natural materials. Many of the materials used are waste products reclaimed other industries such as recycled glass, leather, cotton and sari silk. Recycling materials are just one of the way in which nkuku maintain their eco-friendly credentials and minimise their impact on the environment. They also minimise the use of air freight and send out trade deliveries in recycled packaging.
Because their products are handmade each one is unique with its own story to tell. The story of the artisan who made it using traditional skills handed down from generation to generation. The history of the reclaimed materials and all the possibilities of its use in a former life. And the beauty of natural materials such as wood and leather hand finished with passion and love.

All orders received before 12pm that day, we do our very best to get out that day. Our packer and pickers work like mad to meet these targets. If there is a problem, we will let you know as soon as we can. We ship 1st class unless you have requested express delivery. Please bear this in mind. Priority is always given to express and courier deliveries, especially during busy periods.
Our website operates an in stock system, so you should only be able to order the items if they are in stock. It is updated every 2 hours and is usually correct, so you can order safe in the knowledge we have the items in stock.
We don't normally do preorders, but if your place an order which has pre-ordered items in it, we only ship the order once everything is available. If you need the other items in your order, then please place 2 orders.

Shipping & Handling - Customers are accountable for return shipping charges. Remember PayPal returns may refund your shipping costs if you have purchased using them, details Paypal Shipping. We suggest a recorded or signed for delivery service so the parcel is insured and can be tracked. Goods are the customer’s responsibility until they arrive at our warehouse.
Faulty items - If you receive an item that is faulty, we will send you a pre-paid label for return. Just use the contact us page to request one, sending images of the fault. Store Return Can I return a telephone or Web order at the Baba Me shop? - Yes, you can return non-faulty goods to our shop. You will need to take your Invoice/Receipt with you as proof of purchase. Depending on staff present, the refund will be processed immediately or tasked to customer services to refund (not all store staff are trained in online refunds).
