Children love stories, the suspense of belief as they delve into their imaginations gives them a break from everyday life and helps to enhance their play. Our wide variety of animal glove puppets and finger puppets can be used in a story sack, or in one of our puppet theatres. We also stock the brilliant Moulin Roty brand of story torches so you can shine images onto a wall as you tell a story. Hand puppets could be used in conjunction with these as shadow puppets to enhance your child's experience.

A puppet theatre toy enables a child to put on shows for their parents and friends, using a variety of soft toys, wooden animals, finger puppets and hand puppets. Children have enjoyed puppetry throughout the ages, taking a child to see a traditional Punch and Judy show will inspire them to want to create and perform their own shows.

Our puppet theatres have a wooden frame that has been decorated in brightly coloured paint. The soft fabric curtain can be used to help create the stage and set the scene for a real theatre. Each theatre toy has a chalkboard incorporated into the design so children can decorate their theatre how they want, or can use it to write a show time and titles of plays. The theatres are suitable for different types of puppets, though we also stock a theatre specifically for finger puppets.

A story sack is used to give children tangible objects to look at and play with to act out the story or to carry out activities around the story. They can be used effectively with a nursery rhyme, picture book or your child's favourite storybook. Using a cloth bag you can use glove puppets, finger puppets, wooden animals and different props that are relevant to the story you're following. This form of play is brilliant for language and literacy development as children have something to relate a word to. Once parents and carers have used the story bag they can continue with different activities such as colouring sheets, a naming game and drawing the characters.
