What Are The Best Toys For 4-Year-Olds
Toys for 4 year olds
The best toys for 4-year-olds are ones that let them use their imagination, encourage them to be creative and let them work on their rapidly growing repertoire of skills. By the age of 4, kids are capable of some pretty elaborate make-believe scenarios, will play together with other children and will often also enjoy playing independently.
When looking for toys for 4-year-olds you want something that will keep them engaged and ideally help them learn or develop a key skill. Arts and crafts kits are great as well as they help with encouraging creativity and develop fine motor skills. Characters, dinosaurs, animals and vehicles are also great at this age.
Below we take a look at our top ten toys for 4-year-olds this year.
Top 10 Toys for 4 Year Olds
In no particular order here are some of our favourite toys for 4-year-olds.
Kids love dinosaurs and four is a great age for playing make-believe and fantasy. The Holztiger dinosaurs are great but there are also lots of other dinosaur toys that are sure to do down a treat with little ones.
Rubens Barn Dolls
These beautiful dolls are wonderful for so many reasons. Not only do they offer comfort and companionship but the Rubens dolls are great for playing dress-up and role-play games with and wonderful for building emotional and social skills.
Indigo Jamm Vehicles
The Indigo Jamm vehicles are great for toddlers but they are also really great fun for preschoolers who will play with them in a slightly more imaginative way creating stories and narratives around the characters.
Grimms Building Sets
Grimms make some amazing building sets that are great for all ages. They are really beautiful and can be used in so many ways. They also double as a great puzzle. We really love the new Lion, the 1001 Nights and the Four Elements sets.
As well as toys by the age of 4 children are often really into drawing and crafts and have the ability to really sit and concentrate on something if they enjoy it. We love the Djeco craft kits and there are some great ones that are suitable for this age.
A Dolls House
This is the perfect age to get your child a dollhouse as they can really get into it and enjoy playing both independently and together. Or if you don’t fancy a dollhouse why not opt for a castle.
A Learning Clock
Although children are probably not quite ready to tell the time yet it won’t be too long. And many of the learning clocks also incorporate days of the week, months of the year, seasons and the weather.
This is a great toy for all ages and if you don’t already have one 4 is a great age as children are a bit more dextrous and able to really get the hang of balancing and building.
A Wobbel Board
We love a Wobbel Board and so do kids of all ages. At four they are old enough to really develop their balancing and wobbling skills and the Wobbel becomes a great way of encouraging exercise and movement while they are stuck indoors as well as play.
The Tenderleaf animals are such great value and perfect for pretend play. There are lots of different collections to choose from or you can collect them all.
