Instead, they contain ingredients that absorb moisture, and ones to neutralise bacteria. Thus you feel dry and you don't smell but you do still sweat.

Look out for arrowroot powder, tapioca starch, charcoal, sodium bicarbonate. Witch hazel and tannins may also feature as they are natural astringents and will help to keep you dry.
2. Antibacterial ingredients. Sweat doesn't actually smell, instead its the bacteria breaking down sweat that creates odour. Thus effective deodorants don't just mask the smell but contain active ingredients that neutralize odors. Sodium bicarbonate is a popular choice here although some people are sensitive to it and may develop a rash. Zinc or magnesium are often used as an alternative Coconut oil is a popular choice for it's moisturising and anti-bacterial properties and there are lots of great antibacterial essential oils that have a dual benefit of smelling great too.
3. Gorgeous natural scents. Although there are plenty of unscented options available most natural deodorants come in a variety of great fragrances so you don't just not smell of BO, you actually smell really good. And because it's all-natural these oils will all have other benefits too. Just be careful if you are pregnant as many essential oils are not advised for use during pregnancy.
